Automation never hurt anyone!
What humans are realising, more and more, is that – if not everything that we do – at least ninety percent of what we waste our time working on can be automated; and often with existing technology! Automation isn’t sci-fi! Automation is now, today, the year 2020. The present.
Companies are realising this. People are realising this. As we’ve all had to make changes for COVID, everyone’s suddenly becoming aware of how much superfluous waste of time had been built into systems. Tasks that can – and should – be automated!
Automation is a field that – while by no means new (consider ancient inventions like the printing press!) – has moved by leaps and bounds since the start of the 21st century. These days, computers have the ability to take a lot of rote and, frankly, “boring” tasks, and take charge of them. And it’s a booming market! The global industrial automation market is projected to reach a whopping $296.70 billion by the end of 2026.1 And that’s just industrial automation: OVER A QUARTER OF A TRILLION DOLLARS!
While particularly noticeable in industrial sectors like construction and engineering, this is by no means limited to hands-on automation. Processes like business meetings can be vastly simplified by automation. What if you had a computer that took in, as inputs, everyone’s schedules and preferred approaches to work, and as output generated the next month’s best plan to achieve some goal while keeping everyone happy?
In 95% of cases where you’re trying to eke out maximum efficiency (and who isn’t?) automation is the answer. Humans only have to be the brains behind the process; to light that creative park. The rest, computers can manage!
